The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to announce two new venues for international cricket in India.
Barsapra stadium in Assam and Greenfield Stadium in Kerala are in contention to host their first international game during the long home season. Both the grounds have already been granted Test status by BCCI but are yet to host an international game. With the Indian cricket team set play 23 games at home, the board will need more stadiums to host the games.

As per the schedule, the Indian team will kick off the long home season with a limited over series against Australia, which will comprise of five ODIs and three T20Is.
As per the original plan, the series was to have only ODI games but changes have been made to the plan. A limited over series against New Zealand comprising of three ODIs and three T20Is will follow. BCCI showed interest in hosting a tri-series with Bangladesh as the third team but denial from their board saw the Indian authorities settling with a bilateral series against Kiwis.
Following this series, Sri Lanka will travel to India for a complete tour. Three Tests followed by the same number of ODIs and T20Is will be played. After wrapping up the action packed home season, India will travel to South Africa.
However, the Indian board is likely to cut down the tour due to last minute changes. Earlier, the series against Sri Lanka was slated next year but the board was forced to make changes due to scheduling issues. This will result in an impact on India tour of South Africa.

As per the reports, the tournament will be played in its original format where a team used to play four home and four away games during the league stage.
