Before their all-important tie against Orissa in the Ranji Trophy, starting from 23rd November at Kalyani, two very crucial cricketers, Manoj Tiwari and Ashok Dinda were involved in a heated exchange at a function in Kolkata on Friday. Bengal team left the city for Kalyani on Friday. Unfortunately, according to a few of the witnesses who also were at the function, the heated exchange of words between Bengal skipper and the experienced fast bowler had almost turned to a scuffle even, at the function.
It has also been learnt that Ashok Dinda had gone to Jadavpur University ground at the Salt Lake to meet CAB president Sourav Ganguly and complain against the Bengal skipper and seek justice. Incidentally, none of the accused cricketers could be contacted for their reaction on the issue as none of them picked up the phone on Friday after the incident.
However, according to a CAB official who was at the function on Friday, the key factor behind the scuffle between the two senior cricketers was the current strategy being initiated by Bengal think-tank where the wicket at Kalyani have been instructed to prepare turning and Bengal’s effort to win the remaining two crucial matches in the Ranji Trophy matches by the help of spinners.
