The World has spin legends like Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, and Muttiah Muralitharan. They are mysterious and batsmen were clueless when they faced these legends. Now, in Bengal, a 23-years old boy has notched up a stunning bowling record.
A first division cricketer of Cricket Association of Bengal has created a mind-blowing bowling record. Writtick Chatterjee has taken six wickets conceding any run against Mohammedan Sporting Club in Kolkata. Writtick’s rare bowling spell helped Bhawanipur club to beat Mohammedan Sporting Club by 253 runs. Writtick bowled only two overs two balls and took six wickets. Now this young boy wants to fulfill his dream of playing for national team India.
Bhawanipur club batting first scored 290 runs in 83.5 overs. Writtick’s venomous spin caught Mohamedan by surprise as they found his bowling unplayable. Writtick in his first over, took three wickets in his first, third and fifth ball, in the second over in the first and sixth ball he scalped two more and in the third ball of the third over that completed his illustrious spell. Mohammedan could not score any runs when Writtick was bowling. Mohammedan Sporting were bowled for paltry 37 runs in 13.2 overs.
The 23-year young boy is now eyeing for selection in the Bengal Ranji team before he catches the national selectors’ eye. Writtick has learnt tricks of spin bowling from spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan, who is Bengal’s spin development trainer.
For Writtick, who consider himself as an allrounder, his idols are batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar and England spin deity Graeme Swann.
However, Writtick is not the first bowler in to take six wickets without conceding any run. Earlier Shyam Sundar Ghosh took seven wickets without giving any run.
