According to sources, Indian pacers Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar might miss out of the World Cup squad due to injuries. It is understood that both Ishant and Bhuvneshwar might not be fit ahead of the fitness test on Saturday. The team management has not opened its mouth on the fitness of four players – Ishant, Bhuvneshwar, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. Rohit and Jadeja are likely to be fit for India’s first warm-up game against Australia on Saturday.
Mohit Sharma and Dhawal Kulkarni, initially picked for the tri-nation series have stayed back with the World Cup squad which is taking some time off from serious cricket. Currently the team is relaxing in a resort in Adelaide. MS Dhoni along with Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar went to trekking and are set to join the squad tomorrow (5 February 2015). Shikhar Dhawan left the squad to spend some time with his wife and son in Melbourne while Stuart Binny left for Sydney to spend time with his elder sister.
While Sunil Gavaskar’s choice Mohit looks certain to replace one of the injured pacers, Kulkarni, a specialist pacer, should logically replace Bhuvneshwar. Or else the selectors may consider any other option instead of Kulkarni. It is certain that the selectors won’t choose Yuvraj Singh ahead of any of these pacers and the reports that are taking place in the Internet are nothing less than baseless rumours.
