Big Bash League 2016/17: Chris Jordan Replaces Adil Rashid, Signs For Adelaide Strikers

The England fast bowler Chris Jordan has been signed by Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming season of Big Bash League as the pacer has replaced his countrymate Adil Rashid for the T20 tournament. Rashid is busy with his international commitments and will not be available for the tournament as England tour of India will come to an end in the month of February whereas the T20 tournament starts on December 20 and will finish on January 28.

However, Chris Jordan may be pulled out of the tournament mid-way if he is called to England team for India ODIs and T20s.

Rashid’s absence will be a big loss for his franchise as he was the second highest wicket-taker in the tournament as the leg-spinner scalped 16 wickets in nine games. With Rashid being unavailable for the tournament, the franchise decided to replace him with a fast bowler.

Jason Gillespie, the coach of the Adelaide Strikers said, “Chris is an allrounder who has represented England with distinction and we are delighted to have secured his services. He bowls very good pace, is renowned for taking early wickets and he is also known for his death bowling – and he’s also one of the best fielders in the world.

“He’s a quality cricketer who has all three strings to his bow, and we’re extremely excited to be welcoming here to the Adelaide Strikers,” Gillespie added.

Jordan has been part of Indian Premier league where he represented Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Adelaide Strikers squad: Wes Agar, Alex Carey, Jonathon Dean, Ben Dunk, Travis Head, Brad Hodge (c), Jon Holland, Chris Jordan (OS), Ben Laughlin, Jake Lehmann, Tim Ludeman, Michael Neser, Kieron Pollard (OS), Kane Richardson, Craig Simmons, Kelvin Smith, Billy Stanlake, Jake Weatherald
