India were thrashed badly in the third test of the 5-match Investec series at Southampton and on that note, former Indian cricketer and also a legendary spinner himself, Bishan Singh Bedi made some firm statements about the Indian team and has questioned about the selection of the Indian squad ahead after the upsetting defeat at Southampton.

The former test captain also pointed of the fact that apart from being a par time spinner, Moeen Ali was able to grab 6 wickets in the second innings and 8 wickets in total in the Southampton test. He was able to extract the fullest help from the  pitch and on such a track India left out their top-quality spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin. Bedi added that he did not find any legitimate reason behind dropping Ashwin for all the first 3 tests.

He tweeted, “Moeen Ali’s off-spinners will rankle Indians for the rest of the tour & to think, Ashwin doesn’t even fit in scheme of team strategy. Something grossly wrong somewhere”

Indian bench is now on huge sorts of bother as Ishant Sharma will not be fit for even the 4th test of the series and for once again, the misery of Indian bowling got exposed terribly and it seemed a pretty ordinary bowling attack. It is hoped that Ashwin will definitely brought back in the squad ahead of the fourth test at Manchester, where the pitch will be something alike with the pitch at Southampton.

India won the second test in Lord’s to take an affirmative lead in the series but now the series is squared by the stunning performances in the 3rd test which they went on to win by 266 runs. Presently, as it stands, the series is squared at 1-1 and we are two tests left in the series at Manchester which will be followed by one in The Oval.
