Sri Lankan investigative agency is probing an alleaggtion that member of national cricket team was approached by bookmaker duirng the Sri Lanka West Indies series in the Indian Ocean isle, Soprts Minister revealed on Friday.
Bookmaker appraoched wicket keeper Kusal Perera and star spinner Rangana Herath to engineer Sri Lanka’s batting collapse at a Test in Galle in October.
They wanted a surprise victory for West Indies, Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera said.
“We have started a police inquiry in addition to an anti-corruption probe by Sri Lanka Cricket,” Jayasekera told AFP.
West Indies have lost the entire series. Sri Lanka has defeated West Indies in the two match Test series 2-0 followed by a three match ODI series 3-0 while the T20 series was drawn 1-1.
