Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been in scintillating form this year with the bat as he touched 1000 runs in the calendar year on day 3 of the 4th Test match at the Wankhede. Be it any situation, any opposition, Kohli has no intentions of stopping as he has been breaking all sort of records. Kohli reached 200 at the start of fourth day’s play at Mumbai and is still unbeaten at the crease with Jayant Yadav batting on 92 runs.
Legendary England batsman Geoffrey Boycott hailed Indian skipper as he played a knock of sheer class at the Wankhede. The former great compared Virat Kohli’s footwork to chocolate and feels that India was too good for England.
Boycott was quoted as saying, “Rashid bowled much better today and so did Moeen Ali. As much as the pitch turned, it’s slow and if you have a class act like Virat Kohli. He’s so smooth, like milk chocolate. Never mind all the shots, the feet get you in such lovely position and his footwork gets him into position so early, quickly and perfectly balanced and from there it is quite easy to play.”
“And it’s looks so easy. It is all done because of the smoothness, the ease of the footwork and seeing the length so quickly. Kohli is a class player. For people who like Test cricket, you’ve got to watch him. It’s a pleasure to watch him.”
According to Boycott Kohli reminds him of Brian Lara and feels that the England spinners bowled particularly well on the third day’s play. England’s Adil Rashid dropped Virat at the score of 68 runs for which they had to pay the price.
“We’ve had chances but when push came to shove, we’ve not been good enough,” he said. “Every time England sneaked the door open, India were too good – that’s been the story of the day,“ Boycott told the reporters.
