The Kolkata Knight Riders have continued their superb form in the IPL this season with yet another victory this time over the Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday.
After a decent start to the game having been put into bat, KKR lost the plot in the death overs and managed to set a target of just 165 for the Punjab outfit who desperately needed a victory.
But losing 3 wickets in the powerplay all but ended the hopes of the KXIP side who now find themselves at the bottom of the points table.
It could have been even worse for the visitors who were reeling at 4-53 had Brad Hogg’s delivery knocked the balls off in the 10th over.
Brad Hogg, who is now 45-years old was a part of the KKR squad on the night and will consider himself unlucky with his figures come to the end of the game.
Hogg went for 28 runs in two overs without picking up a wicket but his luck seemed to be out on the night as he hit the stumps but could not get his wicket.
In the 2nd ball of his first over, Hogg completely deceived the South African hard-hitter David Miller with a china-man. Miller moved across exposing his leg stump and Hogg found the top of it, or the bail at least but miraculously, the lights on the stumps were not on and the bails were not off the stumps.
There was a clear sound on the ground as the fielders went on to appeal for a catch but replay showed that the ball had actually hit the bail on the leg stump but was not enough to dislodge it completely.
Here is the video of the same here.
Hodge did not look too disgruntled after the end of the game as KKR ran away with the 2 points but if Miller who was eventually out for 13 of 18 deliveries had stayed on and extended the 67-run partnership with Maxwell, KKR might have been found wanting with an average score on the board.
Maxwell took Hogg to the cleaners in his next over but Hogg had the last laugh as he now sees his team rule the points table as they sit at the top level on points with Gujarat Lions after 9 games.
