BCCI have announced the 16-man squad for the upcoming series against Australia. The team will play 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is with series starting from September 17.
The Indian team has just finished their tour of Sri Lanka and won all the games quite comfortably. Now bigger challenge awaits in Australia at home as the team will start their mini home season which will see India play 23 international games across the formats.
The selectors have not made any changes to the batting squad as they have named all the batsmen that took part in the Sri Lanka limited overs series. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and Ajinkya Rahane will be the openers while the likes of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni from the middle order.
The selectors have also put faith in the spin trio Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal to play against Australia. Ashwin is currently in county season and was rested while Jadeja is also kept fresh for the series ahead.
In the pace department, experienced duo Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami makes a comeback with Shardul Thakur axed from the team. Other notable absentees include Yuvraj Singh, who is still working on his fitness but his chances to make a comeback to the team looks bleak at the moment.
