Brendon McCullum Rushed to Hospital After Getting Hit on the Hand

Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum had to be rushed to the hospital after a delivery from Wayne Parnell during a Caribbean Premier League match struck him on the left arm. It was a severe blow, and he was forced to leave for the hospital to scrutinise whether he had suffered a broken bone or not.

Parnell was the star performer for the Barbados Tridents who finished with impressive figures of 3/31 in his allotted four overs. His performance helped his team beat the Trinbago Knight Riders by 16 runs in a low scoring thriller. They could only muster 136/9 in their allotted 20 overs after batting first but courtesy impressive bowling performance of Parnell, Barbados were able to defend that score as they bowled out the Knight Riders for 120 in the 19th over.

The former Kiwis legend was batting on 26 of 19 deliveries when he got struck on his left arm by Parnell. He left the field immediately and was rushed to the hospital for an X Ray. It was his departure which shifted the scales in favour of the Barbados as the Knight Riders were placed at 41/2 when he was at the crease and should have easily won the match had McCullum been in the centre.

Winning the toss Trinbago Knight Riders captain Dwayne Bravo put Barbados in. Anderson Philip struck in the 2nd delivery of the match as he removed Dwayne Smith with a brilliant delivery. Wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals as Barbados were reduced to 62/7 in the 10th over. From there on it was magical innings by Wayne Parnell who scored 44 which ensured Barbados reached 136 in their allotted 20 overs.

It was the same case for the Knight Riders as well. After the departure of McCullum, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and was never really in the match. Javon Searles and Dwayne Bravo scored 29 and 22 each, but it wasn’t enough to get them over the finishing line as Trinbago lost the match by 16 runs.
