In Asia Cup T20 tournament so far, the Indian cricket team have played excellent cricket winning both matches against Bangladesh and Pakistan. In the first match against Bangladesh, the batting struggled initially but Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya played excellent knocks for the team and helped India to post a competitive total. The main boost for the Indian team has been their bowling which have taken wickets at the start and put pressure on the opposition.
In the second match, all the Indian bowlers were brilliant and did not give the Pakistan batsmen to score runs with ease. India’s fielding in the second match against Pakistan was exceptional and saved so many runs. Pakistan was bundled out for 83. While chasing 84, the Indian innings got off to a poor start losing 3 early wickets for 8 runs. Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh put up an important 64 runs for the fourth wicket which made sure that India will win the match. Virat Kohli played brilliant cricket and scored 49 important runs for the team. India won the match by 5 wickets.
The Indian team will take on Sri Lanka tomorrow and win here will guarantee their spot in the finals. Rohit Sharma has undergone an X Ray on the left toe as he was hit by a Yorker by Mohammad Aamir. Suresh Raina has been out of form for the last 2 matches. He needs to spend time in the middle instead of playing shots right from ball 1. Hardik Pandya bowled well in both matches especially against Pakistan where he picked 3 wickets for just 8 runs.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka lost to Bangladesh in yesterday’s match which has made their life tough in the match against India. Sri Lanka had recently played a T20 series against India losing the series 1-2. The batting has been their main problem with Dilshan not in great form, Chandimal playing rash strokes, the middle order is not looking settled. In the bowling department, Malinga was out due to an injury. Bangladesh was struggling at 26 for 3, Mathews brought on their spinners which released the pressure and Bangladesh scored 147 which proved enough for Sri Lanka. Malinga must be back for the match against India which will help to bolster their bowling attack. In the match against UAE, the start was good but could not get a big score.
Sri Lanka needs to win the match to remain in contention for the tournament and also lift their net run rate because of their loss to Sri Lanka. On the other hand, India needs to play good cricket to qualify for the finals.
The Indian team will be looking to continue their winning streak. Shikhar Dhawan has recovered from the injury and will fit into the team. In the bowling department Nehra, Bumrah, Ashwin, Jadeja and Pandya have bowled with good control and accuracy. Nehra and Bumrah have utilized the conditions which had pace and bounce. Dilshan and other batsmen should have the ability to play the Indian pacers well and otherwise, there will trouble for the Sri Lankan team.
Indian team should continue their aggressive cricket in the match against Sri Lanka. The Indian team should not have any team change apart from injuries. Let us hope that India can continue their winning streak.
