India’s performance in the Test series has been great and pitches in the Test match series have also helped to a great extent. India defeated South Africa in Mohali by 108 runs, while trashed them in the third test by 124 runs to stop the unbeaten streak of South Africa of not losing an away series for 9 years.

Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra have been brilliant with their spin bowling. Ashwin has been the in-form bowler who has taken 24 wickets in 3 Test matches while the other two spin bowlers have supported Ashwin big time.

India’s batsmen have not performed as expected with Murali Vijay being the highest run-scorer in the series with 195 runs. He has been solid and giving starts to the Indian while his partner Shikhar Dhawan needs to come good or KL Rahul might be given a chance in the third test match. Pujara, Kohli, Rahane have not contributed with the bat and India needs them to score runs.

Virat Kohli as a captain in his first home series has been brilliant. With the pitch at Nagpur helping the spinner’s right from day 1, Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra made great use helping India to a series victory over South Africa.

As far South Africa is concerned the batsmen have been not up to the mark. The likes of Hashim Amla, Faf Du Plessis have not come to the party. AB De Villers played excellent innings in the first two test matches but failed to perform in the third test match at Nagpur.

The South Africa bowlers have done a decent job in the series so far. Dale Steyn might be missing the last test match in Delhi and Merchant De Lange might be coming into the squad. The South Africa batsmen have to score big runs to put pressure on the Indian batting line up.

The focus will be on the pitch at the Kotla. The assistant coach said that Kotla track seems to last more than 3 days. India is on a roll and will be looking to make a statement winning the series 3-0 and climbing the 2nd rankings in the ICC test team rankings.

India must focus on their weakness which is their batting, at least in this series. The big players like Kohli, Rahane, Pujara needs to score runs. The Indian have been in brilliant form in test series so far and if they continue to perform like they did in the first three test matches it is likely that India will be winners by 3-0.

Indian pacers did not have much bowling to do in the series so far. Indian pacers comprising of Varun Aaron, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma has not too much. Varun Aaron has been only Indian pacer to pick wickets in the series so far.

India must play according to its strength. Kohli will captain in Delhi for the first time and it will be interesting to see if India can make 3-0 or South Africa can come back strongly to play aggressive cricket and sign off the Indian tour with a win.
