Chris Morris, the South African all-rounder has been withdrawn and sent back home from the ongoing Test series between New Zealand and South Africa post the call up of Dane Piedt for the third Test match.
Piedt, who is expected to join the squad on Saturday, was called up to the side after watching the propensity of New Zealand pitches to speak in favour of spinners. Thus, selectors found no use of retaining Morris in the squad and now he has withdrawn from the series.
At present, South Africa have a total of five pace bowling options in form of Morne Morkel, Kagiso Rabada, Vernon Philander, Duanne Oliver and Wayne Parnell. So there was no chance that Morris would have made it to the playing XI. In fact, there are high chances of Piedt walking in the playing XI, so a pacer will be making a way for the off-spinner in the next game.
Chris Morris has played a total of two Test matches till now. He made his debut in the longest format of the game last year in the home series against England at Capetown.
The third and the final Test will kick off from 25 at Seddon Park in Hamilton. The first Test match at Dunedin ended in a draw and hence, no team possesses a lead till now.
