Neck injury has ruled out Chris Lynn from the three remaining ODIs against Pakistan and Big BBL 06, Cricket Australia confirmed on January 18. The right-handed aggressive batsman made his debut in the second ODI against Pakistan at Brisbane but missed the next game.
Earlier, Lynn forced his way in the ODI squad after the Brisbane Heat player plundered 305 runs in five games of BBL 06 at an average of 154.50. The strike rate of 177.58 during his power-hitting was a glittering fact which helped him get picked for Pakistan ODIs.
Lynn will also be absent from three match ODI series against New Zealand, which starts January 30. He is expected to make a comeback in the T20I series against Sri Lanka next month.
“He’s been playing through a lot of pain even during the BBL and he’s got to the stage where he can’t function anymore. He’ll have a couple of weeks of no cricket … he’s got to calm down the neck because it’s quite aggravated.
“He’ll start his rehab now and he won’t be doing too much strenuous stuff before he hopefully gets back for the Sri Lankan series,” said Darren Lehmann, the coach of Australia cricket team.
Australia will also miss out on the services Mitchell Starc for the Perth ODI, whereas Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the series and he faces the race against time to get fit for the India Tests, starting February 23.
