England all-rounder Chris Woakes sustained a tiny crack on his right thumb during the third Test against India at Mohali and will undergo treatment following the side’s thumping defeat on Wednesday.
While batting in second innings, Woakes received some chin music from Mohammed Shami, who first bowled a belter of a delivery to deceive him and then on next ball got him out by bowling another bouncer, which apparently hit his right thumb and flew back to Parthiv Patel.
The seam bowling all-rounder later went for an X-ray and was diagnosed with a crack on his thumb adding more worry to England management.
Considering this, and with some soar foot trouble too, the visitors are still expected to have his services for the Mumbai Test, which starts from December 8. Also, a replacement for Haseeb Hameed, who will miss the remaining two Tests due to a hand injury, is yet to be announced.
