The 9th match of this year’s CLT20 will be played at Raipur between Hobart Hurricanes and Northern Knights. The match will be played at Raipur at 8pm (IST). Here is the preview of the match between Hobart Hurricanes and Northern Knights.
Northern Knights have won the Toss and elected to bowl first.
Pitch report: The pitch at Raipur is expected to assist the spinners and batting 2nd might be an advantage just because dew might be a factor in the match. But, with none of the two teams having a quality spinner , who can pose a serious threat to the opposition line up.
Strong points: Both the teams have got a decent bowling line up , with Southee and Boult leading it for Northern Knights and Ben Hilfenhaus and Bollinger heading the attack for the Hobart Hurricanes . While Northern Knights will hope for another gem from Kane Williamson , who has been splendid so far in the tournament with 2 half centuries and 1 century. But all in all , Northern Knights have a better batting line up. Kane Williamson has really transformed himself as a batsman from being called a test specialist to a batsman who can adapt easily to all the formats of the game. He has shown the world on how to score in T20s , just by playing some good cricketing shots rather than muscular ones.
Weak Points: Both the teams will have to see how their 5th bowler performs . They have an outstanding pair to start and finish the proceedings but when it comes to the 5th bowler , both the teams are well aware that it can make a difference. Even the spin attack is not threatening for both the teams. Ish Sodhi is talented but is yet to make any impact in the league so far. The other problem for Hobart Hurricanes is that they rely heavily on the 3 batsman to strike it big, with they being Ben Dunk, Aiden Blizzard and Travis Birt. A failure of these 3 and Hobart Hurricanes will in all probability not post a good score. This is something where Northern Knights have an advantage.
With the way Northern Knights have played so far in the tournament and have remained unbeaten , the odds are in favour of a Knight’s win. Apart from batting and bowling , they have so far been the best fielding side in the tournament so far. So considering all these, we predict that it should be 70-30 in favour of Northern Knights.
