Comilla Victorians, a franchise of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has roped in the services of swashbuckling English wicket keeper batsman Jos Buttler for the upcoming edition of the tournament. The news was confirmed by Comilla coach Mohammad Salahuddin today.
“We are delighted to have him. He is a fantastic cricketer and we hope he does justice to his name. We are making our plans for the tournament keeping him as one of our key members who can help us in achieving our goals,” Salahuddin who was in charge of the franchise when they clinched the title in 2015-16 was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Buttler was handed over the captaincy reign when England toured Bangladesh last year as regular captain Eoin Morgan pulled out of the tour due to security issues. Buttler has evolved as a batsman over the past few years and have become a reliable finisher for his team. He has the ability to smash some lusty blows on a consistent basis which makes him a dangerous batsman.
Buttler is one of the many English cricketers who have been approached by BPL franchises prior to the commencement of the next season which is scheduled to start from 2nd November. Buttler who is a destructive batsman is expected to available for the whole length of the tournament.
Buttler was part of the Mumbai Indians set up during the Indian Premier League and provided his franchise with brilliant starts on quite a few occasions. Along with Parthiv Patel, the duo got Mumbai off to blazing starts. Though he missed the later part of the tournament due to national commitments his contribution was vital in Mumbai winning the title for the 3rd time. He was also seen posing with the rest of the team from his home when they were handed over the cup.
