KKR vs MI– Numbers to look out for

Kolkata Knight Riders will take on the Mumbai Indians in their second home match of the season. Here is a stats preview as the Knight Riders take on the Indians.

As we talk about this season, Mumbai Indians started this tournament on a low note with 9 wicket loss to Rising Pune Supergiants, whereas Kolkata Knight Riders won their first match by 9 wickets by beating Delhi Daredevils. When both these teams come face to face today, both their confidence will be at extreme opposites.

But this match is going to be just more than confidence as there are important stats to look out for and here we are to bring them exclusively for you, so sit back and read on –

Clash of the Champions:
One point that not many might have noticed is that Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians are the only two teams that won have IPL, sadly other teams that have won the tournament have either been suspended or don’t exist anymore. Therefore, both these teams have won IPL twice each and are the only IPL winners to feature in IPL 2016.

Head to Head:
In the 16 clashes, both these teams have had in the previous seasons, Mumbai Indians have had an upper hand with 11 wins and KKR have won 5. In their previous meeting, Mumbai Indians won the match 5 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.

Most successful Indian bowler in IPL:
Piyush Chawla and Harbhajan Singh are the second most successful Indian bowlers in IPL with 111 wickets each. Amit Mishra leads the list with 112. Chawla and Harbhajan need just 2 wickets each to lead the pack. Which bowler will get that chance, only time will tell.

When it comes to highest wicket taker in IPL, it is Lasith Malinga with 143 wickets, sitting comfortably on top as Amit Mishra, who is 2nd in the list is way behind. Due to injury, even if Malinga doesn’t play any of the matches this IPL, still there are very few chances that his first position will be in danger.

200 for Pathan:
Yusuf Pathan is 3 boundaries short to reach a mark of 200 boundaries in IPL. His captain Gautam Gambhir tops the list.

Hitman or Sixman:
Rohit Sharma, the captain of Mumbai Indians has played some brilliant innings at the Eden Garden and today when he steps on to bat, he can achieve another record. With 147 sixes, Rohit is third on the list of players to hit the most number of sixes in IPL. Rohit is just 3 maximums short of 150 sixes in the tournament, a feat that only Gayle (230) and Raina (152) have achieved so far.

Players to watch out for –

Robin Uthappa: He has shown good form and can be a dangerous player for the Mumbai Indians if he gets his eye in.

Spin of Kolkata: Piyush Chawla, Bradd Hogg, Shakib al Hasan, Sunil Narine. Not all 4 would play and it definitely going to be a tough call to make for Gambhir to choose which of his spinners will take the field. No matter who it is, there are going to be on a role for sure

Pandya Brothers: Many have seen Hardik Pandya, but not many have seen his brother and he can turn out to be a surprise package if given a chance.

Rohit Sharma: Finally the captain himself. After a huge loss in the first match, Rohit will have a point to prove.

So there are a lot of things to watch out for in today’s match and we doubt you would want to miss it.
