New Zealand’s former captain and one of the finest spinners the world has ever seen, Daniel Vettori is selected for the South Africa ODI series. Vettori is among the 14 men who were selected for the 3 ODI series. However, there still is a doubt whether he will be in the playing 11.

Daniel Vettori last played an ODI against England in June 2013. Later he was out due to ankle injury. Many suspected this would be the end of the road for him. However, this is not the end of the story.

Vettori bowled 10 overs for New Zealand which took on Scotland in a practice game in which he gave away 43 runs remaining wicketless. This was enough to impress the selectors for a recall.

Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor are expected to miss the series due to injuries. Kane Williamson will be out for the first match becaue of a wrist injury while Taylor is expected to miss the entire series due to a calf injury. Dean Brownlie and Tom Latham are announced as replacement for both of them.

New Zealand squad:

Brendom McCullum(C), Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Dean Brownlie, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Mitchell McClenagahan, Nathan McCullum, Kyle Mills, James Neesham, Luke Ronchi, Tim Southee, Daniel Vettori.
