Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly on India Today’s show said Delhi Daredevils are the weaker side in the Indian Premier League. Most of the critics are having the same feel about Delhi team. With JP Duminy, Quinton De Kock and Angelo Mathews on the injured player list, Delhi’s balance has shaken a bit. Just before the start of IPL Shreyas Iyer go hit by chicken pox which adds on to their problem.
According to Sourav Ganguly, the absence of South African southpaw Quinton De Kock will affect the balance of the Delhi squad.
Quinton De Kock got injured during the last Test match against New Zealand in Wellington, where he got a fracture on his finger. JP Duminy was already out of IPL cause citing personal reasons. Angelo Mathews already in rehabilitation. According to Sourav Ganguly,
“I felt Delhi Daredevils have always been on the weaker side for the last three or four year. Their selections have not been the best and Quinton Dekock was so important for them last season. Quinton Dekock played outstandingly in last season, he was the best batsman at the top and they will miss him more than they miss JP Duminy in this condition”
Sam Billings and Rishabh Pant will have to play the role opener until Shreyas Iyer is unfit for the selection. Billings in his last Indian tour was impressive enough. Rishabh Pant is also considered as an upcoming sensation of Indian Cricket. Prince of Kolkata further added,
“I honestly feel Delhi is a bit weak on the batting front and they have to fight hard once again in this competition. For the last two seasons they have finished at the bottom of the table because of the selections they have made in the auction table.”
Delhi Daredevils will be coming into this season as a darkhorse, their bowling and all-rounders might turn the table in their favour.
