Delhi Win Senior Women’s T20 Plate League

Delhi won the plate group trophy of Senior Women’s Twenty20 League 2016-17 by five runs against Baroda, after skipper Reema Malhotra led from the front with an all-round performance on the field.
Earlier, after being put in to bat first – Delhi set a target of 116 for Baroda and the latter were restricted to 110 for eight in their 20 allotted overs.
Reema scored an unbeaten 30 off 29 balls before picking up two crucial wickets after conceding 18 runs. Babita Negi also picked up two wickets.
In reply, Baroda’s opening pair P Patel and Y Bhatia gave their team a 49-run opening stand. Baroda’s side was in comfortable position before Negi broke the partnership.
In the eighth over, Baroda was reduced to 52 for two with Negi sending both openers back to pavillion.
The third wicket stand between Radha Yadav and TNP of 34 was broken by Sonia Lohiya in the 15th over.
When Baroda was on 99, Negi was again in action when she ran out TI Shaikh in the 18th over.
Skipper Reema picked two wickets in the 19th to see opposition reeling on 99 for six before picking to more wickets in quick succession as Zulekha Yakubwala and KKT remained not out as they ran out of overs.
While batting first, Delhi openers Latika Kumari and Priya Punia put 33 runs on board before losing the first wicket on the bowling of Pragya Rawant in the seventh over.
Both openers returned when Delhi’s scored 44 after Mohite struck.
Neha Tanwar was joined by skipper Reema to set the tone for Delhi while adding 58 crucial runs for the third wicket.
Before Tanwar was run-out, Mandeep Kaur joined the captain to guide the team to 115.
