Supreme Court has ordered that the 3 stands at Chidambaram Stadium ( I, J and K ) won’t be used during the Cricket matches as these stands don’t follow the rules and regulations laid down for the public safety. This means that less number of people will be able to watch the CSK home matches from the Stadium( if the Court allows for matches to be held there).
The Judges made it clear that this is not a case of a person amking his own home but a Cricket Association’s property which will be used by public Everything smells and stinks there, added the panel of Judges including Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice R.V. Ramana.
Also the Court asked Tamil Nadu Cricket Association to remove the unauthorised construction to meet the needs of public safety . Also, the Court asked Chennai Muncipal Corporation to look into the matter and get the details of the plans of the TamilNadu Cricket Association about their demolition work.
The judges did wonder on how the inspection committee cleared the ground. However, the stadium can still hold matches with the other 6 stands but the judges have yet not confirmed this and the chances look very slim.
