India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sahara Adventure Sports Limited have together bought a new team in the Hockey India League, with the team being the new Ranchi franchise of the league , named as Ranchi Rays.

Ranchi Rhinos, the earlier franchise of the Ranchi based team and also the owner of the inaugral edition of the tournament was removed from the league , following a dispute between the co-ownes(Patel—PS Group and Uniexcel Group) of the team.

Earlier, the Indian National Hockey team won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 

Earlier , Dhoni has opted out of playing against Sri Lanka in he hme series, which was a positive sign ahead of the World Cup early in the next year.

MS Dhoni said he is looking forward to the next edition of the Hockey India League.
