After adding so many success in his career, MS Dhoni, on Tuesday created one more record by registering the most wins as an Indian captain in the history of World Cup Cricket tournaments. After India defeated Ireland by 8 wickets in ICC World Cup 2015 Pool B at the seddon park in Hamilton, Dhoni surpassed Kapil Dev with 12 wins and India registered their 9th consecutive win in World Cup, which is also a record.
Kapil Dev has 11 wins as the captain of the Indian cricket team in World cup. Behind him is Mohammad Azharuddin with 10 wins followed by Sourav Ganguly with 9 wins in World Cup. Rahul Dravid and Srinivas Venkataraghavan have one win each in World Cup. Shikhar Dhawan scored his 8th ODI century and 2nd in this world cup.
India beat Ireland by eight wickets to record their fifth win in as many World Cup Pool B matches in Hamilton on Tuesday. India bowled Ireland out for 259 in 49 overs with Mohammad Shami taking 3 wickets apart from Shikhar Dhawan’s 100 and Rohit Sharma’s 64 as India chased down the total of 260 in 36.5 overs on a batting-friendly pitch at Seddon Park.
The pair shared an Indian World Cup record opening stand of 174 runs. Ireland chose to bat after winning the toss, Niall O’Brien made 75 runs while skipper William Porterfield made 67. Mohammad Shami finished with 3-41. This victory ensured India, who are already in the last eight of World Cup 2015, finishing at the top of Pool B while Ireland will likely need a win against Pakistan in their last pool match in Adelaide on March 15 to reach the quarters.
