Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has lodged a file against Zee News and News Nation channels for telecasting news against Dhoni’s involvement in match fixing and betting scandals in the concluding season of Indian Premier League and Madras High Court has limited the channel from broadcasting such news.

The High Court has prescribed this for a provisional period of two weeks, Justice S Tamilvanan has given this order following the complaint of Dhoni, who claimed 100 crore INR as a recompense from the Zee Media Corporation for broadcasting such ‘spiteful’ news regarding his connection with the match fixers and betters in IPL.

“I am of the view that there is a prima facie case and the balance of convenience is also in favour of the plaintiff. Hence interim injection granted for a period of two weeks,” The justice granted the order following Indian skipper’s affidavit. The legal notice has been published to the opponents Zee Media Corporation Limited, Zee News Editor and Business Head Sudhir Chaudary, IPS officer G Sampath Kumar (who initially looked into the IPL betting scams) and News Nation network private limited.

Dhoni said that he has been victimized of this malicious, disgraceful and dishonourable news since February 11, 2014 and it has harmed his hard-earned reputation. The affidavit said that the foremost and second defendants Zee Media Corporation Limited (Zee News) and Sudhir Chaudary, Editor and Business Head of Zee News Channel, Essel Studios, Noida, Uttar Pradesh along with the third defendant IPS officer G Sampath Kumar have telecasted and posted on their channels and websites stating that Dhoni has connection with the criminal actions of match fixing, spot fixing and playing. And the defendant no. 4, adding up spice to the wound of him, stated that Dhoni was summoned by the Tamil Nadu Police, which was false.

On the other hand Zee Media has refuted the allegation that Dhoni has been taken against them, but they had accorded to the notice and they will not telecast any further news that will damage Dhoni’s image and report. But they have presented the justification that they bore the news depending upon a sting operation that was done on actor Bindoo Dara Singh and IPS officer G Sampat Kumar respectively. Noe they are preparing to go the Supreme court against Dhoni’s affidavit.
