BCCI is the richest cricket board in the world. But the Indian domestic players are still unhappy with the board over payment issues.
The new domestic season is almost here, but the players are still unpaid for the last season.
BCCI has been unable to clear the dues of the domestic players due to the ongoing conflict between the board and the Supreme Court directed Committee of Administrators.
The BCCI distributes the fees to the players in two parts, Rs 10,000 per match day from their respective state association. The remaining amount is transferred by the BCCI after the player’s accounts are signed valid by the AGM. Many officials from state associations have verified the fact that the players were still unpaid. With the BCCI officials being at the receiving end from the CoA, the committee of administrators has taken a strict route to apply administrative reforms.
The state associations have been on the receiving end, as the CoA has declined to request the Supreme Court to disburse the funds to the state association. An official from west zone unit said:
“If we do not get the funds we are entitled to from the Board, how can we run the show. We have somehow managed the last year but now cricket has actually started suffering.”
Another official from the south zone said:
“Since the State bodies have not received money from the BCCI, they have told the Board to pay the players directly.”
The players are not the only ones to suffer from this dispute, even the supporting staff and the coaches have not received the funds. A coach of a Ranji team said:
“I understand the situation but if the payments are not settled soon, especially for support staff, it will be difficult for these professionals to sustain themselves financially.”
