Two-time Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings will play in the tournament after a two-year gap following the end of the suspension last week that was handed over to them by the Supreme Court. The apex court had suspended the franchise along with Rajasthan Royals for a couple of years in 2015 after some of their team owners were charged for corruption.

In addition to being one of the most popular teams in the country, the Super Kings are also one of the most successful teams in the history of the IPL. The only team which has defended its IPL title so far, Chennai Super Kings have won the league twice-2010 and 2011 in addition to making it to the summit clash on four different occasions including the inaugural season. They have also won the now-scrapped Champions League T20 twice.
The story:
Ahead of Super Kings’ much-anticipated return next year, their former opener Matthew Hayden has called himself the biggest CSK fan before expressing his disappointment over the absence of the team in the last two seasons.
“I don’t think you can get a bigger fan of CSK than Hayden. I really missed CSK in the last two years. I was very disappointed that they were not there in the last two editions of IPL,” he told PTI.
“The team’s success has been incredible and their fan base is massive. Importantly, it has been primarily focused on the key asset, cricket,” he added.
Hayden played for CSK from 2008 to 2010, playing an integral role in the 2010 victorious campaign by scoring 346 runs in 16 outings. He had also won the Orange Cap for ending the 2009 season as its highest run-getter with 572 runs in just 12 matches.
The legendary batsman, meanwhile, is currently in Chennai to ply his trade as a commentator in the upcoming edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League.
