South Africa team performance in the subcontinent since 2010 has been great winning three out of eight Test matches, 16 out of 28 One day Internationals and 11 out of 17 T-20 International matches. South Africa has beaten Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka both in the Test and One day International series.

The recent success for South Africa in the subcontinent is because they are spending more time in the IPL over the last 8 years. South African players are enjoying the IPL and have had reasonably good tournaments.

South Africa had so many players in the IPL which includes AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis, JP Duminy, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir , David Miller, David Wiese. AB de Villiers was the fourth leading scorer in this year’s IPL and also had a hundred in the tournament.

The South Africa’s top batsmen performed well in the IPL but it was nice to see that next crop of bowlers including Wiese and Morris in action. South Africa will be spending time between October and November for a full series in India, so the series against Bangladesh holds importance for them in that context. South Africa’s focus will be on the next T-20 world cup which is going to be held next year.

South Africa has done well in foreign conditions but they have shown that they can come and play well in subcontinent conditions.

Faf du Plessis said that we are high intensity team and in warm conditions you need to hold the intensity back. The other challenge for South African team is the confidence of Bangladesh team which they have after beating Pakistan and India.

South African players played very well in the IPL and are coming after three months break after the semi finals loss in World Cup 2015.
