Even supposing the cricket Board has not produced any public announcement, but from the sources it has been virtually confirmed that Duncan Fletcher‘s will likely carry on as the coach of Indian team withal the support staff Joe Dawes as a bowling coach and fielding coach Trevor Penney.
Fletcher has been turned off to bits frantically in the recent pass following India’s disgraceful defeat in New Zealand and South Africa. Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian captain and now just assigned interim president of the Board for Control of Cricket in India for the purpose of Indian Premier League by the Supreme Court elevated his voice against him most. He suggested that Rahul Dravid would be the most appropriate person to be given over the responsibility of coaching, though Dravid instantly declined the proposition.
As Fletcher and two other supporting staff have received the support of the Board, there is no prospect of replacing them at the moment, BCCI Secretary Sanjay Patel confirmed.
Under the coaching of Fletcher, India had suffered consecutive defeat in Test series, which took place in foreign soil i.e. England, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand and too in three successive ODI series held in South Africa, New Zealand and recently finished Asia Cup. Still, the team is recovering in the velocity of a rocket winning the final four matches of the ICC World Twenty20 consecutively and has affirmed their spot in the semifinal.
“Let me put the record straight. Duncan Fletcher has the wholehearted backing and support of BCCI. There has been no discussion on his removal. We told him that we have a lot of trust in his coaching capabilities and he should not be worried about anything else,” BCCI secretary Patel had said few weeks ago. The decision had the approval of the most important man in Indian cricket, N. Srinivasan.
