Too early to compare Kohli with Tendulkar: Muralitharan

Former great spinner Muralitharan has said that it is early to compare Kohli with Tendulkar. Kohli was in excellent form scoring 973 runs in 16 matches in the recently concluded IPL 9.

“He(Kohli) is just amazing,” Murali, who came down to Kolkata as an advisor to Cricket Association of Bengal’s (CAB) Vision 2020 programme, said on the sidelines of a practice session.

“What’s important about Virat is that he plays all cricketing shots for his runs,” he pointed out. But Muralitharan said that it is not fair to compare Kohli with Tendulkar right now.

“Sachin has been a legend of the game. It’s too early to compare these two. Let Virat play for 15 years and see where he finishes. Then only you can compare,” the spin wizard stated. Virat Kohli has been in brilliant form in the year 2016, especially in shorter ie ODI and T20. His ability to play cricketing shots and create gaps makes him a dangerous player in all formats. But the main challenge for Kohli lies when the team goes abroad and faces tough bowlers on greener pitches which help fast bowlers.

Sachin Tendulkar played for 24 years and was a cricketing god. He scored centuries all over the world and made the country proud. In the year 2016, Kohli has been the backbone of Indian team with a contribution in Australia, Asia Cup T20, World Cup T20, and IPL9.

Sachin Tendulkar also was the backbone of the Indian team. He played with the likes of Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Anil Kumble, Sehwag. Virat Kohli is an inspiration for a role model for youngsters and if he continues to perform this then Virat Kohli can break Sachin Tendulkar record.
