ECB Confirms England’s Warm-Up Tour Schedule For Australia

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Thursday has confirmed the national team’s warm-up tour schedule for Australia prior to the Ashes Test series which will kick start oNovember 23 at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Ahead of winter’s much-awaited traditional series, England will be considering it as the preparation camp before taking on Australia in the five-match Test series which is expected to be full of action and plenty of drama.

“Those fans here to support England can get along to these matches and in particular, we’re pleased to be able to bring a four-day match up to Townsville,” CA team performance manager Pat Howard told Australian media.

The visitors will face Western Australia at the WACA in Perth followed by the Adelaide Oval and Townsville matches against Cricket Australia XI. It would be interesting to see the newly appointed skipper Joe Root leading the Test side after Alastair Cook has stepped down from the post of the captaincy after drawing the flak following England’s dismal performance against India.

The ECB has confirmed the tour which would further see the England players getting a perfect chance to acclimatise the conditions before going into the long Australian tour.

The reports suggested England will face Cricket Australia XI in a four-day, day-night warm-up game which will be played in Adelaide between November 8-11 and Townsville, respectively which is scheduled from November 15-18.

England side is expected to arrive in Australia in the early November, before playing the two-day warm-up match against Western Australia from November 4.

The schedule suggested the visitors will play five matches in total in which they will play three before the start of the Brisbane Test, as the fourth tour match will be played between Adelaide and WACA Test on December 9-10.

Moreover, the one-day tour game is scheduled at Sydney on January 11 against Cricket Australia prior to the five-match ODI series which will kick start at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on January 14.

However, both the teams are practising hard to give their best in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, as they are placed in the Group A alongside New Zealand and Bangladesh.

Interestingly, the third Test was shifted to WACA after it was understood by the Cricket Australia (CA), that a new Stadium in Perth is expected to take more time before its completion.
