Ehsan Mani told reporters in Karachi that Pakistan should boycott India in ICC events if they fail to play the scheduled series in December 2015.He also did not shy away from talking about the intervention of the ICC as a necessary step, which would put pressure on the BCCI despite the kind of political force they have become over the years.
“I think Pakistan would be within its right to refuse to be in the same group as India in any ICC event. Until now it is common knowledge that the ICC s main revenues have been generated from scheduling a match between Pakistan and India in any ICC event in the group stage itself,” Mani was quoted saying. According to FTP list India had initially given the green signal to play the series in Pakistan’s adopted home grounds in the UAE.
The chances of Pakistan and India starting their bilateral cricket ties this year in December went slim when the country’s National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz said that he doesn’t see a Indo-Pak cricket series in the current political situation.
Earlier Shahid Afridi had also expressed his disappointment over the decision of BCCI to not go ahead with the series and advised the PCB not to force them. Whether Ehsan Manis ploy to get the BCCI to succumb to the pressure by the ICC or not, only time will tell.
