In a comic turn of events, the England bowlers in their ongoing warm-up match against Pakistan A ended up taking 12 wickets! To make things even hilarious, the scorecard reads as 9 Pakistan A batsmen dismissed!
Going into their second warm-up game ahead of the test series against Pakistan, England opted to bowl first in Sharjah under the baking sun. The England bowlers, especially Steven Finn were too hot to handle for the Pakistan A batsmen who struggled against the English accuracy. The wickets kept falling in a heap and the possibility of a result even in a two-day encounter seemed realistic!
Below is the scorecard of the Pakistan A innings:
Usually, in a 2-day game, one of the team bats for an entire day, while the other days for the next day. Judging the way Pakistan A batted, it seemed that England would bat on the very first day. Thereby, in order to give their bowlers some more time under the sun, England allowed a few Pakistani batsmen to bat again.
Khurram Manzoor, Ali Asad and Usman Salahuddin batted twice each so that Pakistan A could last an entire day. Manzoor was originally dismissed for 4, but on getting another opportunity, made 11. This indeed turned out to be a refreshing idea emerging out from the England camp, as it gave their bowlers some vital practice.
