Former Pakistan and current Australian spinner Fawad Ahmed could make his Test debut that has escaped him since being accepted citizenship in Australia.
However, Fawad Ahmed has said that perfroming for domestic team Victoria in the Sheffield Shield must remain his main objective.
Stuff.co.nz reported that Fawad Ahmed is aiming to win a place on the upcoming Test tours to the West Indies and England and is creating his case for a Test debut in 2015. He got 18 wickets for the Bushrangers in the first half of the Shield season.
In spite of taking 6 wickets against Western Australia in the 1st match of the 2013/14 Shield season, Ahmed failed to clench his chance to unseat off-spinner Nathan Lyon with another quality presentation for the 1st Test of the Ashes series in Brisbane.
The leg-spinner said that he felt a lot of coercion because he was hearing the people telling him that he had an opportunity to play the 1st Test if he bowled well against New South Wales.
Fawad Ahmd stated that he put a lot of pressure on himself and did not perform well as a result and he added that after that he tried not to remember about playing for Australia and focus on playing for Victoria.
Fawad Ahmed also stated that his national aspiration are always there, but he also added that he is trying not to take too much pressure. He said that he cannot manipulate the selection, but if he is showing well for Victoria then he trusts a chance would definitely come.
