Today, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the fixtures, venue and squads for the upcoming Duleep Trophy. The tournament will be played at the Greater Noida international cricket stadium at U.P. Duleep trophy is making a comeback this season as the 50-year-old tournament was scrapped last year due to the busy schedule of domestic players. The Duleep trophy will also mark the start of the Indian domestic season which was revamped last year.

The Duleep trophy will nearly be a 20 days long affair which will be played from August 23 to September 14. The tournament might be played with the pink ball with all the matches starting at 2:00 P.M.

Earlier it was expected that the international players like Virat Kohli and all members of team India which is currently playing in West Indies will participate in the tournament but with two T20’s announced post this Test tour, they will not be part of the Duleep Trophy. Players of India A will also miss the domestic tournament as they are set to travel to Australia for Test series and One day Tri series.

The unavailability of star players might have forced BCCI to select Gambhir, Raina, and Yuvraj as captain; all these three players have dim and bleak chance to make a comeback to the Test team.

The left-handed batsman Gautam Gambhir who last played international cricket in 2014 will lead India Blue squad which have players like Mayank Agarwal. Saurashtra batsman Sheldon Jackson, former under 19 player Baba Aprajith and many other star players are part of the squad. Parvez Rasool and Pankaj Singh are also part of the squad.

Suresh Raina will lead India Green squad. Harbhajan Singh, Ambati Rayudu, Jasprit Bumrah are few of international stars in the team.

The third and the last team of the tournament is India Red, Yuvraj Singh will lead this team which seems to be youngest and inexperienced team of the tournament. The left arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav, Abhimanyu Mithun. Gurkeerat Singh Mann, IPL star Nitish Rana are few of players of the squad.

Players like Unmukt Chand, Manana Vohra, Rishab Pant, Sarfaraz Khan, Mayank Daar are few players to miss out on the squad.
