Out of favour Team India opener, Gautam Gambhir is always known to speak his heart out.
He is a very animated character both on and off the field. While during his cricketing career, we have seen Gambhir getting involved in several altercations but when it comes off it, he is a very different person. He is known to help the poor people and always raises his voice against any wrongdoings in the society.
He is an active member on his micro-blogging site Twitter and has around 5.8 million followers. Again he raised his voice on a very sensitive issue. Taking to his twitter handle, Gambhir said,
“Standing n waiting outside a club:20 mins.Standing n waiting outside favourite restaurant 30 mins.Standing for national anthem: 52 secs. Tough?”

While some were in favour of Gambhir’s statement, one particular Twitter user said that all the three things mentioned above are personal choices and depends on the individual. Though patriotism cannot get instilled on someone, at least for the sake of it, one should rise and stand during a national anthem especially when it is our very own.
Meanwhile, Gambhir has been out of the Indian team for a long time now but made a brief return during the home Test series against England last year. The southpaw failed to make his mark and was eventually dropped from the next series in favour of other regular openers like Dhawan, Vijaya and KL Rahul.
Gambhir played two of the most important knocks during the two biggest days of the Indian cricket. On September 24, 2007, Gambhir’s brilliant knock of 75 was instrumental in helping India lift the maiden ICC World Twenty 20 title. If that wasn’t enough, Gauti proved why he is a match-winner when he played a memorable inning on the night of the 2011 World Cup final.
Though the southpaw missed out on a century by a mere three runs but by then he had taken India within striking distance of the target.
