Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir feels that the recent dance jig during a sponsored shoot might put him in a troublesome situation with his wife Natasha. The star left-hander reveals that he has never danced before, although he likes Punjabi music and no one has ever succeeded in making him dance, not even his KKR boss Shah Rukh Khan!
“Let me share a little story,” wrote Gambhir. “I am a quintessential Punjabi who loves his butter chicken and daal. I love my Punjabi music but not those DJ kinds. But I never dance which is very un-Punjabi and akin to an Aussie cricketer who doesn’t sledge! I never ever have, not even to please my wife or erstwhile female interests. Not even Mr. Khan (Shah Rukh) could make me dance at any of KKR’s IPL after-match parties.
However, Gambhir was forced to bend to professional commitment and revealed how he was compelled to break into a jig for a sponsor’s shoot. A shy Gambhir threw his reservation to a corner and made his dance debut.
While most of them appear cheerful after dancing, the KKR skipper looked pretty worried, the reason being his wife. Gambhir says that he has rejected his wife’s dance offers hundreds of times during being it any events, including his brother in law’s wedding.
“But then there is always a first. Yes, yours truly shook his leg and that too for a sponsor’s shoot. Yes, I did. I know my wife Natasha will kill me for this as I have turned down her demands, instructions, and even appeals to shake a leg with her. I didn’t even dance at my brother-in-law’s bachelor’s party which Natasha says is “criminal”.”
Teammates Yusuf Pathan and Surya Kumar Yadav, who were a part o the shoot had a great time making fun of Gambhir.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders had a sizzling start to their IPL campaign after they thrashed Gujarat Lions in their opening game at Rajkot by 10 wickets. Australian striker Chris Lynn (93) and Gautam Gambhir (6) looked in devilish mood as the duo smothered the Lions bowlers completely and chased down the 184 runs target in 14.5 overs without much bother.
Batting first, Gujarat Lions put up a fairly challenging total of 183/4 with the help of skipper Suresh Raina’s 68 which came off 52 deliveries. However, the target appeared to be too small in front of KKR as the Lions’ bowler failed to find consistency in their bowling.
