Sunil Gavaskar had a miraculous escape from a road accident when he was travelling to London from Manchester on Sunday afternoon, after the 4th Test match finished with India losing the game by an innings and 54 runs. Gavaskar was sitting along with his friend  Chandresh Patel and English commentator Mark Nicholas when he saw that his driver suddenly changed the direction of the car in an attempt to prevent collision with another vehicle .

Mark Nicholas was sitting beside the driver and reading newspaper while Gavaskar and his friend were seated on the back one.

Gavaskar had earlier cautioned his driver to drive smart after it rained heavily in manchester and nearby areas. But, soon after , Gavaskar saw a vehicle approaching their Jaguar . The driver suddenly turned towards the right but failed to prevent the collision and the vehicle coming from the opposite side collided near to where Gavaskar was sitting.

Talking with the Mid-day after he reaching London , Gavaskar said that God has saved us. He added that because of the torrential rain, the car was being driven very fast. He called  the accident very scary but was relieved to say that no one got injured

He added that they had to leave the Jaguar because of it’s condition and they moved towards East Midland Parkway Railway Station, where they boarded a train for London.

Just moments before this accident happened, Gavaskar messaged her wife that they are on their way and will soon be reaching London and his wife had to wait very long for him to reach London.

Gavaskar is arguably the first World Class batsman India has produced and the first glimpse came during India’s tour to West Indies in 1971 , hwere Gavaskar played the then bowling greats with much ease and remarkably without an helmet. He finished with most runs in test cricket but saw it broken soon. He is popularly known as ‘ Little Master’.
