Glenn Maxwell Hopeful To Taste Test Success In Bangladesh

Australian batting all-rounder Glenn Maxwell revealed to give his best to cement his spot in the Test format, as the Kangaroos are scheduled to play two-match Test series against Bangladesh, after being named in the 14-member squad of Steven Smith-led Australia, for the forthcoming series which will be beginning in Dhaka from August 27.
“Over the last month, I’ve hit the training track pretty hard and just tried to do everything humanly possible to be ready to go once I came up here,” Maxwell was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia.
The 28-year-old Melbourne-born explosive batsman Maxwell stated he is going through a rigorous training since past one month in a bid to prepare himself for the upcoming series, owing to the capability of the right-handed batsman.
“I’ve been running a fair bit and batting as much as I can, as well as working on my bowling, and just trying to basically get ready for whatever cricket I have to come,” Maxwell added.
Maxwell, who could bowl off-spin, is eyeing to left no stone unturned in order to impress the Cricket Australia selectors to become the important cog in the wheel of Test set-up.
“I’ve probably gone the other way,” Maxwell remarked.
As Australian players are preparing hard in the Darwin as a part of Test-camp, where conditions are similar to Bangladesh, Maxwell is confident of excelling in the longer version of the game.
Maxwell has worked on his batting during the training camp which included bowling and fielding drills after the Australian management roped in former wicket-keeper batsman Brad Haddin as a High-Performance coach.

Maxwell, who has gone through a lean patch was excluded from the One-day International side last year, however, was excited on his Test return after a prolonged gap against India to register his maiden century in Ranchi since 2014.
“I was extremely proud of being able to come back into the team and perform as well as I did that first innings back in the Test side,” Maxwell maintained.
The No. 6 batsman Maxwell, who has the ability to play the spin bowlers, as he is looking forward to finding the berth for the traditional Ashes series which is scheduled in November, later this year.
It is pertinent to mention, Maxwell was inducted into the Australian side for the Ranchi Test after Mitchell Marsh was flown home due to the injury.
“That was something I hold very close to my heart and it gave me a lot of confidence going forward,” Maxwell concluded.
Maxwell is aiming to revive his career to play a significant role for Australia across all formats.
Australia will travel to Bangladesh on August 18 before featuring in the two-day warm-up game too.
After making his Test debut in 2013 against India, Maxwell has featured in five Tests for Australia in which he has scored 239 runs at an average of 23.90.
