Glenn Maxwell Should Play All Three Formats For Australia: Shane Warne

Australia spin great Shane Warne has backed the outspoken all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, saying he should be included in national side for all three formats.
“Glenn Maxwell is a super talent and I’d like to see him in Australian colours in all forms of the game. If there’s a spot for him, if he’s making runs, get him in,” Warne said, quoted as saying by news.com.au.
Being himself in the news for various wrong reasons, Warne declared Maxwell a match-winner and stressed the selectors to get him in the side.
For a talented player like Maxwell, the time seems to be flying but there’ll be chances for him to shine. He just has to find that momentum to excel.
“He’s a guy who has got flair and imagination. He’s a match-winner,” Warne added, who has also gone through lean patch during his career.
While applying for a clearance to join New South Wales, Maxwell did not play the maiden game for Victoria Bushrangers in October this year.
Warne feels the all-rounder will play a decisive role for Australia during the Test series in India that will begin from February 23.
To count himself among the best contenders for India tour in February, Maxwell could turn his fortunes around by scoring some runs in the ongoing Chappell-Hadlee series against New Zealand.
“He’s going to play some ridiculous, stupid shots. But you’ve got to take the good with the bad because out of 10 games he plays, he’ll probably win you two off his own bat,” Warne concluded.
Due to the current controversy, Maxwell was overlooked for opening game at the Sydney, which Australia won by 68 runs after a stellar performance from skipper Steven Smith.
Having only three Tests under his belt, Maxwell has scored just 80 runs at an average of 13.33.
