Hazel Keech, the wife of India’s senior batsman Yuvraj Singh, has congratulated her husband for achieving the 400 games mark in international cricket. The World Cup-winning star reached the milestone during the first of the ongoing five-match One-Day International series against West Indies.
Yuvraj’s life story has been nothing short of inspirational. One of the greatest match-winners for India in the limited-overs format, Yuvraj had become the toast of the nation after playing a huge role in India’s victorious 2011 World Cup campaign. However, everything looked lost when he was diagnosed with cancer. But the fighter in him once again displayed its never-say-die attitude as he came out of the war against cancer unscathed.
The southpaw has now become a regular in the limited-overs team and has inspired millions with his comeback. And his wife also knows that the Punjab-born star is an ‘epic hero’.
Congratulating the veteran batsman on her Instagram account, Hazel wrote: “Epic is this hero! Well done #dontstoptilyougetenough @yuvisofficial ❤️😘🏏🏃🏻🏅“
Earlier this month, the southpaw had become only the fifth Indian player after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly to play 300 One -Day Internationals. The 35-year old had achieved the feat during India’s semifinal clash against Bangladesh on June 15 in the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy.
Yuvraj had not got the chance to bat in his 300th ODI game but had the chance to make his 400th international game memorable when he walked out to bat against Windies. With India comfortably placed at 168 for 2, the left-handed batsman had the chance to get back into his prove and silence his critics after the not-so-impressive Champions Trophy. However, he managed to score only 4 before Jason Holder sent him packing.
But fortunately, Yuvraj’s failure did not cost India as the match was called off due to rain. India were 199 for 3 in 39.2 overs when rain stopped the play. Shikhar Dhawan top-scored for the Men in Blue with an 87-run knock while his opening partner Ajinkya Rahane scored 62.
The next match of the series will be played on Sunday (June 25).
