Stat updated till 19 April, 2015

On the first position, we have Albie Morkel. CSK we set a target of 206 by RCB and after a steady start the batting of CSK lost their way in the middle and lost hopes of winning the match. But then walked in Morkel, in his innings that lasted just 7 deliveries, Morkel scored 28 runs and got CSK back in to the match and the men in yellow ended up winning the match on the last delivery.

Second position is held by AB de Villiers for his cameo of 8 ball 31 against PWI, this is the same match where Gayle scored 175* and it was obvious that the huge innings by a huge man overshadowed any other contribution.

B Akhil, a young all-rounder who played for RCB in the first season scored a quick fire 27 runs of 7 balls to ease the run chase against DC and win comfortably.

After the Top 3, the next two positions are held by players who despite playing a quick couldn’t take their team through to victory. On 4th we have AB de Villiers in the match held on 19 April and on 5th position is Suresh Raina, who despite scoring 87 off 25 balls against Punjab couldn’t help the Super Kings chase the 200+ score set, thanks to a century from Sehwag.

The only other player to score a 50+ score and still make it to the Top 10 list is Yusuf Pathan who scored 72 in just 22 balls last season against SRH. KKR had qualified for the next stage but needed a big against SRH to end 2nd on the table for an added advantage. They had to chase 161 within 16 over’s and an innings from Yusuf took KKR through the score in just 14.3 over’s.

400 is the highest strike rate for a player in an innings in IPL that is like hitting boundary every ball. Do you think someone can better that? If yes then who? Maxwell? Pollard? Gayle? De Villiers? Or someone else? Share your views with us.
