Alex Tait suffered from the horrific injury when a bowl struck him directly in the face while practicing in nets last week which left him in hospital for nearly a week now.
The initial scans revealed Tait broke fifteen bones. The cricketing fraternity has come in a support of Tait to raise the funds for his surgery.
Bradford-born Tait, who played for Lightcliffe Cricket Club was bowling in nets when a shot from the batsman fractured his nose, eye sockets, cheekbones and a forehead.
The crowdfunding aims to raise £10,000 (INR 833672.78) for Tait for the expenses in the hospital and further to meet the financial requirements.
“The cricket family is renowned for coming together to support each other and Alex is hopeful cricketers around the country will assist his current position and donate a small amount to allow him to continue living whilst he endures the coming months,” Chris Taylor posted on JustGiving posted to raise funds for Tait.
Father to a son, Tait according to his consultants in the hospital won’t be able to work for months.
“I am having the operation tomorrow at Bradford Royal Infirmary and there may some loss of vision in my right eye but won’t know till a few weeks after,” Tait was quoted as saying by The Sun.
Stepping into a help, the crowdfunding page which has been set in a bid to raise money for the Tait has already received over £4,415 (INR 368295.25) in donations on JustGiving.Com when this copy was filed.
“I have played cricket and football all my life as a junior, I have been hit with numerous injuries needing operations but this is the straw that broke the camels back and I now have to retire from both sports that I love,” Tait added.
However, according to a report, Tait will take a long time to rehabilitate as the number of surgeries is required to helpful him to recuperate.
“I am truly touched by the response from friends, family and the cricket community,” Tait concluded.
The reports suggest, the neuro specialist will also assess the condition of Tait to check whether if the blow has damaged his brain or his eyes. Following the invasive operation the metal plates will be inserted in his face before reformatting will take place.
