England Test player Ian Bell signs for Perth Scorchers in the sixth edition of Big Bash League (BBL). Perth Scorchers is one of most successful teams in BBL winning it twice and also runners-up in the following years.
“The Scorchers have been a force in every season of the Big Bash,” Bell said. “I’m really excited about joining up with the team in December and making The Furnace my home ground.”
Bell became the 5th highest runs scorer in the T20 tournament held in England. He scored 489 runs at an average of 40.75. He will be second England player to be signed in BBL. Stuart Broad was signed by Hobart Hurricanes in the past 1 week.
Bell was dropped from the England test team. He might be selected for the tour of Bangladesh and India later this year.
“The Scorchers have a fantastic record in the competition having made every finals series and winning two titles so I’m looking forward to hopefully helping them do that again this year.”
Bell has played 118 test matches, 161 One day internationals and 8 T20 internationals for England. He played his last match in November.
“I’m delighted to be coming back to play in Perth for the Scorchers in this year’s Big Bash,” Bell said.
“I love the city having played there earlier in my career and to work with Justin Langer will be superb,” Warwickshire veteran signed off.
