ICC has released the latest Test rankings for nations , following the end of the series between Australia and Pakistan. Australia did not favour to themselves , after being clean swept by Pakistan in the 2 match series. The worst part was that both the matches were played on pitches which were flat , atleast for the first 3 days of the match.

This defeat means that Australia had to lose their No: 1 spot in the Test rankings and Pakistan jumped to 3rd position, something which has not been seen in the recent past . But the major challenge for Pakistan will be to hold this position as they have been very inconsistent with their game.

South Africa regains their Number 1 spot , thanks to the performance of Australia . India is still placed at Number 6 and they don’t have much options this year to improve over it. The best chance for them is to prove themseves when they tour Down Under early next year.

But the difference between the points of the Top 3 teams is very high , with a difference of 19 points between the 1st and 3rd placed team. South Africa has a total of 124 points , followed by Australia with 117 and then followed by Pakistan with 105 points. The gap though decreases then with 4th placed England being at 104 points.
