The dismal performance by the Indian players in the recently concluded T20 series against India has caused them in the T20 rankings. In the latest rankings released by the ICC, Aaron Finch has replaced Virat Kohli at the top position among the T20 batsman. Virat Kohli scored a 27 ball 43 in the first T20 against South Africa, playing second fiddle to Rohit Sharma, who went on to score a century. But in the 2nd ODI, Kohli was dismissed cheaply owing to a run-out.
The notable fact is that Aaron Finch last played a T20 in November 2014. AB deVilliers has moved to 34th spot, moving up by 5 positions. JP Duminy, the chief architect of South Africa’s win in the 1st T20 has moved to 11th spot. Rohit Sharma, the centurion of the 1st T20, has moved to 21st spot. Suresh Raina has dropped down to 12th from 11th position. MS Dhoni is on 36th spot, owing to his failures and no doubt his place in the side should be questioned. Ajit Agarkar has recently questioned his place in the side.
Among the bowlers, Imran Tahir has climbed 3 places to be back in the Top 10, being at 9 at the moment. R Ashwin continued his brilliant run and has maintained his 4th spot.
Among the all-rounders, Shakib al Hasan has maintained his top position, leading Mohammad Hafeez, who is at 2nd position. JP Duminy is at the 7th spot and no other Indian or South African player is the top 10 in the list of all-rounders.
Among the teams, Sri Lanka continues to top the charts. India has slipped to 6th, from 4th position, all due to their dismal performance in the series. South Africa has gained positions and is placed at 5th at the moment.
