The four finalists in men’s and women’s ICC World T20 2016 are expected to wear black armbands on Sunday in the final matches as a mark of respect to the families of the victims of the horrific flyover tragedy.
On Thursday afternoon, an under-construction flyover collapsed in the North Kolkata near Ganesh Talkies. Till now, 24 people died while over 100 people were injured in that tragedy. It is not easy for the Kolkata’s citizens to come out from that tragic incident so soon.
Meanwhile, both the finals will be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Sunday. At first, ICC Women’s World T20 final will be played between Australia and West Indies at afternoon. After the end of that match, West Indies vs England match will be played in ICC World T20 (men), which will be held in the evening.
CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) president and former Indian team captain Sourav Ganguly told on Friday, “We have requested the teams to wear black armbands.”
Apart from these, CAB is also planning to show a five minutes documentary on the former BCCI and CAB President Jagmohan Dalmiya, who passed away on 20th September 2015.
There will also be a cultural programme, where Bickram Ghosh will perform ‘tabla’ and Amaan Ali Khan–Ayaan Ali Khan will perform with sitar. Along with them, Tanushree Shankar will also show a dance performance.
