Ecstatic after his side’s emphatic win over England in the third Test at Mohali, Indian skipper Virat Kohli showered some generous words on England opener Haseeb Hameed during the post-match press conference.
Talking about his knock, Virat seemed impressed with the youngster’s grit, attitude and approach towards the game after he played a role of a rescuer for the visitors even after an injury on his left hand.
Hameed, who got hit by a rising delivery from Umesh Yadav in the first innings that eventually got him out, caused some concerns for the batsman and also for his team. His brave innings of 55* saw the 19-year-old earning laurels from his countrymen and also from the opposition too.
“I wish him speedy recovery. He showed great character of a 19-year old,” Kohli said.
Not just this, both Virat Kohli and Haseeb Hameed were later seen having a light chat after the match got over.

Having the world number two batsman Joe Root at his helm and getting an opportunity to have a word with one of the best run-chasers in limited-over cricket, Haseeb must be feeling quite lucky with his presence in the squad. Words of encouragement from Virat will surely boost his confidence and help him improve him as a batsman.
Haseeb Hameed played three matches in the series and scored 219 runs at an average of 43.80.
