The Story
Cricket in Pakistan is set to come out of cold, as the crazy cricket country prepares to host the World XI side. The tour, financially supported by the International Cricket Council (ICC), is officially named as the Independence Cup and will witness three T20Is in November.
The buzz has reached new levels after the squad was announced comprising of players from seven countries – five from South Africa, two from West Indies, three from Australia, and one each from Sri Lanka, England and Bangladesh. The side reached Lahore this week.
Fans, current, and former cricketers are eagerly waiting for the day to arrive and become a part of the biggest effort to revive Pakistan cricket after 2009 terrorist attack in Lahore.
Buzz is alright, but Imran Khan Uninterested
1992 World Cup winning skipper Imran Khan has decided to miss the upcoming grand event. It is understood that the cricketer turned politician has ignored an invitation from Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Najam Sethi, to attend a game at the Gaddafi Stadium this week.
Imran Khan is on a five-day visit to the United Kingdom and is expected to only return to Pakistan on the day the tour ends which means that he wouldn’t be available to make an appearance. Sethi recently announced that PCB had sent invites to 17 former captains and stalwarts to attend the event.
The World XI Squad:
